J-Hope (제이홉)

J-Hope (stylized j-hope), also known as Jung Ho-seok (Korean: 정호석) was born February 18, 1994 in Buk District, Gwangju, South Korea.

Before BTS, he was part of an underground dance team Neuron and took classes at Gwangju Music Academy for six years. He was well known for his dance skills even before his debut in BTS.

J-Hope is a multitalented artist, being a rapper, singer, songwriter, dancer and record producer. He has also been described as having an upbeat and energetic personality.

As of October 12, 2019, he has released a first solo mixtape and a solo single.

Apart from his music and dance career, J-Hope is also known for his philanthropy, and he has been a member of the “Green Noble Club” since 2018, which recognizes big donors for Child Fund Korea. He is known to have donated about ₩600 million to charity causes.

Like other band members, he was awarded the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit in 2018 by the President of South Korea for his contribution to South Korean culture.
